Paula MacGregor
about the artist:
Paula has always lived in Essex; she has six grown up children and an ever-increasing heap of grandchildren. She is the workshop co-ordinator and curator at her local community art gallery.
It is the historic cabinets of curiosity that inspire Paula, which is often apparent in her work. She explores ways of using archiving, classification, association and connections and is particularly interested in the areas where science and art meet.
Paula has a masters degree in contemporary bookbinding, but rather than her work being in the generally accepted book format - she considers it more as an ‘assemblage with a narrative’.

about the art work:
"My work has been described as ‘being just on the right side of gruesome’, and this piece is no different. If you read the index cards in the dusty brown folder, you will learn the stories behind each of these artefacts and you will begin to understand why they have been put there …"
