Tabatha Mitchel-Simons
about the artist:
Tabatha is a textile artist/maker, she is engaged by surface detail and responds to its imperfections. Materials, which have their own past, perhaps stained or frayed, are incorporated into her work, as well as discarded buttons, threads and other found objects.
about the art work:
Reflecting on my own experiences I aim to tell a story.
My textile pieces hope to provoke shared emotions and give me insight into human behaviour. The attention to detail sparks a memory of something precious, something forgotten.
The majority of my work is made by hand, preferring the domestic craft techniques in an individual and refined manner.
